British Premium Meats -

British Premium Meats recognise the importance of reducing pollution, protecting our resources and minimising the effect that we have on both the world and local environment.
With those aims in mind we have developed policies, procedures and systems to ensure
that we not only comply with regulations, legislation and codes of practice relating
to environmental matters, but also relate these aims to our moral responsibilities
to the environment. Areas that we have looked and continue to review include:-
Recycling in excess of 260 metric tones of cardboard per year.
An on going programme of replacing delivery vehicles with modern vans exceeding the EURO 4 standard including LPG fuelled versions.
The controlled recycling of meat waste via registered and approved agencies.
The use or reusable plastic meat delivery skips to minimize the use of cardboard boxes.
Procurement of recyclable or recycled sundries including:-
~ Recyclable meat packaging . ~ Recycled office Stationary.
~ Shredding and recycling of office paper.
The construction of sound reduction screens at our production plant to reduce the amount of noise pollution in the local environment, along with signage and notification letters for all suppliers to ensure that delivery vehicles are not left idling whilst delivery to site.
The purchasing of Trunk lorries fitted with ADBLUE -
An on going programme of delivery route reviews, to ensure that our vehicles are covering the shortest route practicable, thus minimizing both congestion and emissions.
The use (where possible) of paperless ordering and billing systems.
All of these are in addition to the good practices that our teams have adopted in conserving resources, by turning lights and taps off, closing doors and windows, to name just a few.
